Leap year!

Feb has 29 days instead of 28!
Of course it is the leap year. The year you have summer olympics!
You get an extra day to party or work – your way of looking at it.

But think about it, if instead of a leap year, if every year Dec 31st had an extra quarter day, wouldnt that be fun? You could party for 6 more hours! Or 6 more hours to sleep since you slogged thru the year! And well you wouldnt have problems with taking the new year head on. You will be guilty that since you partied so hard, you will work thru the new year!

Well on the flip side, you will have to look up the calendar if you want to see there is olypics that year or not. But why bother? That is for the olympics comm to bother and they will surely keep us informed anyway since they want us there, else they cant get their paychecks!

Seriously, what good does a leap year do except get us one extra beautiful day every four years!

How is it going?

How is ‘it’ going?
Well ‘it’ is going on fine.

it = life
it = thesis work
it = job search

Simple question. Even simpler answer. Just one variable!

Officespace

Have you seen this one? An old one. Boy but so relevant about software, software people and software companies! Three guys working on the Y2K and how their life sucks until they hatch a plan to get back at their boss.

The scene I love the most is the printer. Watch the movie, you will understand exactly which printer scene you will love the most. Trust me, many of us in this x-chomp world will love to do that to our printers!

And for all those LOTR fans, an ode from a sysad!
Nine megs for the secretaries fair,
Seven megs for the hackers scarce,
Five megs for the grads in smoky lairs,
Three megs for system source;

One disk to rule them all,
One disk to bind them,
One disk to hold the files
And in the darkness grind ’em.

Enjoy!

Waking up and alarms!

These days I am waking up early (read 7am), all by myself. I mean no alarm clocks etc. It is so peaceful. But waking up early with a bunch of roomies is a pretty tough situation to be in. Now I realize the pain my roomies took to wake me up when my alarm clock would go. I guess they all think it is payback time! I dont blame them. These electronic alarms are so designed to be noisy that anyone awake in a mile radius would be irritated with the sound. I doubt if these alarms have any effect on people sleeping. But for the man (I guess the woman alike too), the alarm clock is the most painful invention. It either breaks some good soul’s sleep or irritates the person awake! Damn these alarm clocks!

Btw, waking up early on saturdays has its own ills too! You cant call anyone in the US as they will kill you the next time you bump into them. You cant call anyone in India, because it is saturday evening. And work refuses to happen as it is the weekend. So how does one spend time? Just-type!

The Lion Kind – revisited!

An old one, yeah but the special edition DVD came out just a few days back. Unlike some people with big funds to buy big stuff (read aka F-18) without the necessary parking permits, I would start a small fund to buy this one.
And yes I do have a lot of space at my apartment for the DVD. Those who intend to gift me please go
here
!

About the movie, I guess I dont need to say anything at all. It is probably the best movie ever made. Well the best shot, I guess is the look on the young ‘Simba’ when it is first shown over the cliff. Wonderful songs, great music! Probably because it was one of the first movies of its kind, that it has struck as one of the greatest movies I love! Surely love it more than Toy Story or the sequels of it. Always great fun and treat to watch it!

Humble beginings?

Well. some years back I registered http://www.rajasekhar.com for myself. After a few more years, I added the first page. And then started blogging. Now discovered that there is lot more to blogging than what I used to use. So decided to move myself to movabletype! Shameless promotion to MT, I guess!

Now I will be on a roll. Of course a pre-req to visit this site would be to love chai and hindi movies! I guess the only pre-reqs!

So read on and have fun!
