Sadness galore…
Aibo (see my post Feb 19th 2004 – first post in this category!)….is being put to rest. CNN report tells me that. And now that is sad.
AIBO was the cutest dog! Now if I want a pet, I need to get a real pet. A real dog and have my carpet wet:(
How can sony do that? Please get the AIBO back? yeah it is pricey and I still cant afford it …. but removing from the market is even tougher! Nothing more to ogle at in the tech world!
Please save the dog! How about an online petition for the same?
Physics is Phun
Better next?
Mapping engines have been great! Mapquest, Yahoo maps, the latest Google Maps. One good thing about Yahoo is it gives uptodate traffic information. And google earth or virtual earth from MSN are also wonderful tools to navigate – or are they? If I am on the road, how the hell do I know, how that place looks from an aerial view? Why would I care? Of course, these are not for navigation.
Guess hence Amazon (had seen a news item sometime back) is taking so many pictures of street blocks in various cities so that you can virtually navigate in a city! Now that is nice. Or probably google has them in their labs and Microsoft also has plans. And so does yahoo probably.
Anyway for runners, this is a cool tool! Enjoy!
Hand of God
The ‘Hand of God’ and the ‘goal of the century’ were scored by the same person, in the same match, in a FIFA world Cup – nearly a decade ago. I heard of that, a lot of times. I didnt watch that world cup, since I didnt have a TV – and also because I never knew much about FIFA too. We did buy a TV for the Cricket World Cup of 1987.
Not a major fan of football that I follow it religiously, I was looking around for more about that match of June 22nd, 1986. And bingo! The whole match is online! Enjoy….especially the second goal of Argentina against England! Some great football:)
MSN and Google on earth!
Well I dont know the history. I knew a company called Keyhole existed and Google bought it over. And a product called Google Earth was launched. Meanwhile Microsoft launched Virtual Earth.
As of now, Microsoft’s piece locates stuff only in the US. Google’s application (well it has to be downloaded to begin with) at least identifies some cities across the world. Though the satellite image for that place need not be accurate – it covers the entire earth.
A word about MSN Virtual Earth – the URL for a particular map is somewhat like a tinyurl but still it doesnt fit on a single line in an email. The resolution in MSN seems to be much better, google seems to have reserved it for premium users. Looks like MS wants to stay ahead in the game and pump in a lot of money!
Best SE Asian/Indian Photoblog
Well I did nominate this blog – ended up in the top five:)
Now vote at photobloggies for Zishaan’s photoblog . Amazing photos from all over India! Have enjoyed most of them, and hope to see more. He is competing in the Best South East Asian or Indian Photoblog category up there. And it is listed as homepages.iitb.ac.in/~zishaan/photoblog.
Hint: Use multiple email IDs, if you love the photoblog:)
Microsoft and search
And GODS made Google.
To tackle the menace of Microsoft. So Microsoft started a beta search site …
http://beta.search.msn.com
First thing: It was slower.
Curious enough I hit, “Near Me” option – hell it picked up stuff in Boston MA.
Well it is easy to locate probably from my IP where the hell in the world am I located….because last I remember, I never gave Microsoft where I stay.
And a few more searches – sorry this site is unavailable, come back later!
All the best, Microsoft, everyone is going to blast you with some searches:)
And heck they have sponsored links on the beta page itself. NO to microsoft, google is good enough for me.
Of course, I guess many people would have seen this . Pretty interesting!
